Summer Learning Comes to Life at Connections Kids Club
This summer, Connections Kids Club (CKC) created new opportunities for children to explore, create, and discover through a series of educational activities combining hands-on learning with plenty of fun.
🥗 Healthy Eating & Everyday Learning
Children and families explored balanced meals and the Canada Food Guide through arts and crafts, videos, music, and interactive activities. Food items generously donated by the Food Stash Foundation were also shared with participating families. One parent shared that the workshop helped her learn more about preparing healthy meals for her picky eater.
🔬 Discovering the World of STEM
A three-part STEM series introduced children to careers in engineering, conservation, healthcare, and medical laboratories. Participants experimented with coding balls and electrical circuits, built paper rockets, and even learned about data and graphs through colourful, age-appropriate activities. The report noted that children were curious about the careers introduced, asked many questions, and filled the room with laughter while exploring the STEM learning kits.
🇫🇷 Exploring French Language & Culture
Children also had the opportunity to discover French language and culture through music, writing, pronunciation practice, and interactive activities. By the end of the sessions, participants were able to recall many of the useful French phrases they had learned—and wrapped up the experience by making and enjoying crêpes together.
Through these summer activities, CKC encouraged children to learn by doing, explore new interests, and build curiosity beyond the classroom. We look forward to creating even more engaging learning opportunities for children in our community.
