Description
The Generations Homework Club is a long-running after-school tutoring program that connects youth volunteers with students in Grades 5–8 who need support with their schoolwork. Held weekly at the Richmond Public Library, this program fosters a safe, inclusive space where students feel encouraged and capable. Volunteers serve as mentors and tutors, supporting youth academically and helping build their confidence through meaningful relationships.

Fall Oct 9 – Nov 27
Winter Jan 8 – Feb 26
Spring Apr 9 – May 28
⏰ Time: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
📍 Location: Richmond Public Library (Brighouse Branch)

📅 Commitment: Fall/Winter/Spring (9 months preferred)
Roles and Responsibilities
- Offer tutoring support in homework
- Help students build confidence and self-esteem
- Foster positive, respectful relationships with students
- Collaborate with fellow volunteers and staff to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
Requirements/Skills
- Minimum Grade 10 or above
- Comfortable explaining elementary-school level subjects
- Patient, empathetic, and approachable
- Reliable attendance is essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
