CCSS Opens First Childcare Centre,
Strengthening Early Learning in Richmond
Richmond, BC — Connections Community Services Society (CCSS) celebrated the official opening of Connections Childcare Centre – Spul’u’kwuks today, marking a major milestone as the organization’s first licensed childcare centre. The event was attended by provincial and municipal representatives, school district partners, and community members.
“This Centre is more than a childcare program, it is a bridge connecting families, education, and the community. We believe every child deserves access to quality early learning in a caring environment,” said Daniel Suen, Executive Director of Connections Community Services Society.
Located within Spul’u’kwuks Elementary School, the Centre was made possible through a partnership with Richmond School District No. 38, expanding access to early learning opportunities for families in the community.
The Centre began serving families on October 1, 2025, welcoming children aged 30 months to 5 years. Rooted in the BC Early Learning Framework and fully aligned with BC Child Care Licensing Regulations, the program offers a safe, inclusive, and play-based environment where children can thrive.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, CCSS’s licensed Early Childhood Educators nurture curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning, supporting children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

- Kelly Greene, Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness & MLA for Richmond–Steveston
- Mayor Malcolm Brodie, City of Richmond
- Councillor Andy Hobbs, City of Richmond
