Everyone is welcome — CCSS staff\, clients\, parents\, and community members. Licensed pharmacists from Oval Integrative Pharmacy will give the shots. \n\n Which vaccines will be offered?\n\nThis year’s influenza (flu) vaccine and the updated COVID-19 vaccine. For the 2026–27 season\, Health Canada has authorized updated COVID-19 vaccines reformulated to target the Omicron XFG lineage (the previous LP.8.1 products were withdrawn in September 2026). Both vaccines are updated regularly to match the viruses circulating this season. \n\n Who should get vaccinated?\n\nEveryone 6 months of age and older. Vaccination is especially important for adults 65 and older\, young children\, pregnant people\, people with chronic health conditions\, people who are immunocompromised\, health-care and community-service workers\, and anyone in close contact with people at higher risk. Getting immunized protects you and those around you. \n\n Is it free?\n\nYes. This fall and winter\, everyone in B.C. can receive influenza and COVID-19 vaccines free of charge — including at this clinic. \n\n Can I get both shots at the same visit?\n\nYes. It is safe to receive the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same appointment. Most people get one in each arm. \n\n Do I need to book\, or can I just walk in?\n\nBooking opens October 13 — scan the QR code on the clinic poster or use the registration link to reserve a time. Walk-ins are also welcome on the day\, subject to capacity. \n\n What should I bring\, and how should I prepare?\n\nPlease bring your BC Services Card (your Personal Health Number/PHN is on the back of your card)\, and your immunization record if you have one. Wear a short-sleeved top so your upper arm is easy to reach. Note: community pharmacists can only immunize B.C. residents with a PHN — if you don’t have one\, please contact us ahead of time at 604-838-9123. \n\n How long does it take? What happens after my shot?\n\nThe whole visit usually takes about 20 minutes. After your shot\, please stay and rest in the observation area for about 15 minutes so our team can make sure you feel fine before you leave. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for full protection to build up\, so getting vaccinated in October gives you protection before the winter respiratory season peaks. \n\n Will the vaccine make me sick? What are the side effects?\n\nThe flu shot cannot give you the flu. The most common side effects are a sore arm\, mild tiredness\, headache\, or a low-grade fever for a day or two — these are signs your immune system is responding. Serious allergic reactions are very rare\, which is one reason we ask you to wait 15 minutes after your shot. If you have questions about your own health situation\, ask our pharmacists on the day or call us at 604-838-9123. \n\n My child is under 9 and has never had a flu shot — anything special?\n\nChildren aged 6 months to 8 years who are getting the flu vaccine for the first time need two doses\, at least four weeks apart\, for full protection.
